Hey everyone, Foo reporting in. Over the past couple of months, we have been discussing something that has been absent from the market for a while now. Custom Game Boy Micro face-plates. It’s always been on the back of our minds, but has been increasingly gained more priority because of you. We get at least a couple dozen emails a week for Game Boy Micro face-plates. The demand is understood, and we hope to bring the supply. This is no small task though, which is why we will need your help in the future.
We are in the process of creating a Kickstarter to help fund the production of Game Boy Micro Face-plates! We have been working for the past couple of weeks on prototyping the face-plates themselves. After a few revisions, we were able to create a model we were extremely happy with. Having a Formlab 3D printer allows us to test our models and prototype for testing, which saves time and money. Before we launch anything, there are many things to sort out to make this project a success.
Reasons we are choosing Kickstarter:
- Funding – Outside funding is a must for this dream to come true. We have just invested in a 3rd laser cutter for production, which was much needed for expansion.
- Community involvement – We get emails about face-plates every day. We want you to be a part of our journey, because we wouldn’t be doing this without you.
- Spreading the Word – Using Kickstarter will open this project up to a wide range of people who have been looking for replacement face-plates.
- Best possible product – Choosing crowdfunding will give us a bigger budget than we would ever have for this project alone. This will allow us to get the best possible tool made, and produce them as close to the original Game Boy Micro face-plates as possible. Quality is key.
We hope you are excited about this announcement as we are putting it together. We do not have a specific launch date for the project, but we will keep you updated VIA social media and our blog.
